Molinaro chosen to head NYS County Executives Association

Patricia R. Doxsey is reporting for the Daily Freeman Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro has been chosen president of the New York State County Executives Association, effective October 6. Molinaro was elected to a two-year term to lead the association, which represents the 19 counties that have county executives as their chief elected official. He succeeded Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy. In a statement following his election, Molinaro said county leaders are working together to battle the coronavirus pandemic and the threat the virus poses to the people and the economy. "We all need to work together, and we need a strong partnership with the federal, state, and local governments on behalf of all New Yorkers,” said Molinaro said according to a press release announcing his election. Molinaro was elected Dutchess County’s seventh Dutchess County Executive in 2011. He was re-elected for a third term in 2019. Molinaro also serves as second vice president of the New York State Association of Counties. Molinaro was first elected to public office at the age of 18 in 1994, serving on the Village of Tivoli Board of Trustees, and in 1995, he became the youngest mayor in the United States.
