WSYR-TV is reporting Howie Hawkins has received the Socialist Party USA nomination for the 2020 presidential race. Hawkins’ campaign says that puts its candidate one step closer to building a case for the Green Party endorsement. Hawkins is looking to earn nominations from several parties, ranging from Progressive to Socialist, with the intent of uniting the independent left to challenge Democrats and Republicans. Hawkins was New York's Green Party candidate for the U.S. Senate in 2006.
