Common Council approves feasibility study to repurpose JLE school

Amanda Purcell is reporting for Columbia-Greene Media the Hudson Common Council August 21, approved a resolution requesting Columbia County and the city collaborate on a feasibility study to consider the acquisition and use of the John L. Edwards school building for combined municipal offices. “I just want to thank the council for supporting the John L. Edwards resolution,” 4th Ward Supervisor Linda Mussmann said following the vote. “The county has been waiting for you to do this, so now we can proceed with some plan to make something happen. There is a lot of what-ifs, but there are also shared services that we are rewarded for doing. I think there are opportunities that we don’t have any idea that we don’t know can happen.” The proposed study would assess the cost to remediate or renovate the building. The total assessed value of the JLE building is $5.3 million, according to county property records, and it measures more than 74,000 square feet. Read the full story at HudsonValley360 [dot] com.
