Matthew Daly and Kevin Freking report in Time Magazine that local Congressperson John Faso (R-Kinderhook) voted Feb. 1 to eliminate a regulation that prevented coal mining debris from being dumped into streams. Faso voted with all but nine Republicans to kill the water protection measure. Faso also voted Feb. 1 with all but four Republicans to eliminate another rule that requires companies to disclose payments to foreign governments related to mining and drilling projects.
