The Eastwick Press reports that the Town of New Lebanon starts its Bicentennial Celebration March 3 at the New Lebanon Town Hall with a presentation describing the town’s religious and spiritual traditions and displays of historical documents. The Columbia County town officially incorporated in 1818, and will hold all sorts of events to commemorate that occasion in 2018. Grow the Valley, Inc. is coordinating the bicentennial events, and their president, Fiona Lally, said, “We are thrilled to be playing an active part in celebrating this moment of our town’s history. Organizations, businesses and individuals are pulling together to offer a fantastic array of programs that will be informative, interesting and, most of all, fun.” At the March 3 event, four New Lebanon churches and The Abode of the Message, a Sufi community and retreat center, will discuss their part in the town’s history, and local musician Monte Wasch will sing Shaker songs. Then, Town Supervisor Colleen Teal will unveil the bicentennial celebratory banner, before the town places thirty of them along the town’s major roadways. Read the full story in The Eastwick Press.
