WGXC Members are invited to attend the first semi-annual WGXC Membership Meeting, at the Crossroads Brewery (upstairs) on 21 2nd Street in Athens.
This is an opportunity to to meet other WGXC listeners and supporters; to learn about WGXC membership, programming & infrastructure; to provide feedback to the station’s staff and Council; and to help shape our future. (And to visit the area’s newest brewery.) Members will be invited to elect two seats to the WGXC Radio Council. More information about the Member Election Process included in the long description.

What? An Election?
Members interested in serving on WGXC’s Radio Council are invited to attend this first-ever Membership Meeting at the Crossroads Brewery on September 10 for the Radio Council Member Election. At the meeting, two members of WGXC are to be elected to the station’s Radio Council, the station's governing body, beginning their terms in January 2012.
Eligibility: You must be a current WGXC Member (with a membership start date on or before September 5, 2011) to be eligible for participation. Any current WGXC Member is eligible to run for a seat on the Council, and all WGXC Members are eligible to vote. Membership is secured through an annual minimum $25 donation to WGXC, or 6 hours of volunteer labor. Voting Process: At the beginning of the Membership meeting, attendants will be invited to place their names on the general slate. Each candidate will be invited to speak for up to three minutes regarding their interest in serving on WGXC’s Radio Council. Voting cards will be distributed to all members in attendance, and members will be instructed to write-in their vote for two candidates. The cards will be collected and counted by the WGXC Membership Committee.
Radio Council: WGXC's Radio Council meets every other month to evaluate the station's policy, to make programming decisions, and to support the development of sustainability WGXC over the long term. Comprised of 9-15 area residents, the Council is designed to reflect the diversity of WGXC's listenership, and to ensure that the station continues to serve the needs of our communities. Membership seats are subject to Radio Council consensus veto. With Council approval, terms of the elected Council Members begin in January 2011. For more information, contact info@wgxc.org.
