Cohoes experiencing major water woes
Feb 08, 2019 1:30 pm
Kenneth C. Crowe II is reporting for the Times Union the city of Cohoes is managing needed emergency repairs to a major water valve break, but that break is threatening to cut water supplies to one-third of city residents, Mayor Shawn Morse said Feb. 8. A boil-water advisory has been issued, meaning the water might not be safe to drink unless it is brought to a rolling boil first. The water emergency is affecting between 2,500 and 3,000 households in an area located between Cohoes Falls to the Lansing Pool. Repairs to the valve and surrounding pipes could cost the city up to $100,000. The 16-inch main in question dates to 1910. The break resulted in the Cohoes City School District closing the Abram Lansing Elementary and Cohoes Middle schools by noon. Read the full story in the Times Union.
