Deer hunt 15 percent smaller in 2015

Bill Conners in the Poughkeepsie Journal reports that hunters killed 15 percent fewer deer in 2015 then the year before, according to the state Department of Environmental Conservation. In Dutchess County, the deer kill was down 25 percent. Conners says DEC wildlife managers blame the statewide falloff on the particularly harsh winter of 2014-15.
