Friends About the Polywave

GX Jupitter-Larsen

Originally created as a part of a sound installation at the Coaxial Arts Center in Los Angeles in summer of 2018, this expanded remix of Friends About the Polywave was created for Radio Österreich 1 (Kunstradio) Austria. The piece is a “roll-call” compiling short snippets of the artist’s closest friends introducing themselves, many of them recognizable artists in their own right. A long-standing participant in international correspondence art, tape trading, noise music, and outré radio, the artist charts the shape and rhythm of his social network, an extension of his recurring interest in quantifying the intangible. Jupiter-Larsen writes of the work: “We are the sum of those we meet in life. This is our relationship to the world. This is how we can measure how we live…” - Described by Wave Farm Radio Art Fellow 2022-2023, Tyler Maxin
