Kristin Lucas is an artist working in the realms of digital art, video, performance, intervention, sculpture, and installation. She investigates visions of future, the effects of an accumulation of rapid spread, flash-in-the-pan technology, and the impact of the digital medium on perceptions of time and space. About More Melting, writes Lucas, "As a part of the process of experimenting with video or with digital tools, I cannot help but to over-identify with the medium that I work with. It has always been a part of my practice to attempt to embody the character of a medium, or to perform as host to that medium. To me, a monitor, cast in wax, is a time-based video. The wax takes a certain amount of time to melt and the image moves, physically. A fading signal. Turn it on with a match and it transmits meaning. It memorializes its obsolescence. As an object it is an amplification of the legacy of an ephemeral medium's finite reality."
