Laura Kunreuther is an anthropologist whose research focuses on changes in public life in Kathmandu after the re-establishment of democracy, particularly in the ideologies of voice. Much of her research is concerned with the emergence of FM radio in Nepal, and the political and intimate meanings of voice generated on radio programs. Through ethnography, Laura engages people in the stories they have to tell about their past and present lives, their memories, desires, and disappointments. She is thus applying these ethnographic skills to a new program on WGXC called 'Work'. In this workshop, Kunreuther will discuss the challenges of interviewing and editing for radio, and the methodology and conceptual framework behind Work. This workshop is particularly relevant for those working in documentary and transmission arts.
