In the latest Hudson Valley Word of Mouth segment, Julia Joern visits Leslie Bish, founder of Heart's Content Apothecary and the lead gardener at Glen Falls House in Round Top. A historic Catskills resort, Glen Falls House has been revamped by its new owners, Jon Picco and Greg Brier. Since acquiring it a few years ago, they have transformed it into an inclusive hospitality spot for locals and out-of-town visitors alike. Immersed in nature, the 40-acre compound — complete with hiking trails and waterfalls — features an old inn, separate motel-like guest rooms, a farm-to-table restaurant, a tavern, a retro pool, and a little provision store. Bish joined the team in 2020 and has continued to enhance the overall property, adding an organic fenced-in garden and an abundance of flowers, herbs, and plants. She also recently launched Heart's Content Apothecary, named after Heart's Content Road in Round Top. Using what she grows and forages from the property, she produces small-batch plant- and herb-based natural remedies like tinctures, elixirs, serums, and syrups, as well as skin-care products. In addition to Glen Falls House, Heart's Content Apothecary can be found locally at Churchtown Dairy and MINNA in Hudson, Kaaterskill Market and HiLo in Catskill, and Circle W in Palenville.
