May 02, 2018 11:22 am
H. Rose Schneider reports in the Altamont Enterprise that two candidates are contesting the sole Berne-Knox-Westerlo School Board seat on the ballot on May 15. Incumbent Lillian Sisson-Chrysler is trying for a second three-year term is running against Randy Bashwinger, Berne’s highway superintendent. Bashwinger ran last year finishing fourth out of five candidates for three seats, 89 votes behind the third-place winner. Sisson-Chrysler is a licensed practical nurse, and voting against spending increases is her main cause. Bashwinger does not believe there is a conflict in his serving on both the school board and as highway superintendent, even though the the Albany County town and the school district have a few agreements to share manpower. You can read the candidates opinions on many issues at the story in the Altamont Enterprise.
