Prattsville still sees problems five years after storm

Daniel Zuckerman reports in The Windham Journal about the five-year anniversary of the local devastation during the storms surrounding Hurricane Irene. Prattsville, in particular, was wiped out, and still sees the effects of the storm. "Many houses are still in rough shape, and some are even boarded up. Landmarks like Colonel Zadock Pratt’s headquarters sitting on cement blocks and the Reformed Dutch Church of Prattsville that was last rebuilt in 1839 remain empty, but still standing five years on," Zuckerman writes. “I lost my gas station, half my house,” said resident Betty O’Hara. “You couldn’t even find a wrench.” Many residents in the community complain that grant money was slow to come to the community after the storm.
