County Legislature approves land transfer

Kyle Adams reports in The Daily Mail the Greene County Legislature Wed., June 19, approved the transfer of nearly five acres of land to the town of Cairo for development as soccer fields. The town has been leasing the land, located on Volunteer Drive just off Mountain Avenue, since 2006, during which time it has lain dormant as an empty field. The county granted ownership last night on the condition the property be used solely for soccer fields. Cairo Town Supervisor Ted Banta said the land transfer will improve the park as a destination location and also provide some additional "economic viability to the area." There is "a great spirit of cooperation between the county the town of Cairo right now," he said. Read the full story in The Daily Mail.
