MidHudsonNews [dot] com is reporting the state of New York has initiated a third round of Home Energy Assistance Program benefits, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The round of funding will continue through June 30. The Emergency benefits can only be accessed after regular HEAP and initial Emergency HEAP benefits have been exhausted. The third round will mirror the first round of Emergency HEAP. “It is highly likely that past applicants who were working and thus ineligible for HEAP may now be eligible,” said Sullivan County Legislator Nadia Rajsz. “In addition, more people may be eligible to apply for the first time if they have encountered a loss in income.” The Home Energy Assistance Program also offers an emergency heating equipment repair/replacement program and an emergency cooling program. New applicants are able to get an application online and can apply through www.Mybenefits [dot] ny [dot] gov. Read the full story at MidHudsonNews [dot] com.
