Greene Co. Sheriff reports attempted abduction

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office has located the vehicle as well as the owner/operator. He s a resident of the area and at the time of the alleged incident was out attempting to locate his lost dog. This information was independently confirmed by a neighbor.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an attempted child abduction that occurred this weekend in Oak Hill, according to a public safety notice posted at the Cairo-Durham Central School District website. At approximately 8:06 p.m., Sun., June 1, an emergency call was received reporting a white male with white hair and a white beard driving a blue pick-up truck attempted to pick up two children in the area of Schoolhouse Hill Road. The truck is described as being a newer style, unknown make or model, single cab blue pick-up truck with an eight foot bed. The children involved sought help from an adult immediately and the unknown male drove off without further incident. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information to contact Senior Investigator Sean McCulloch at (518) 943-3300, extension 8018. If anyone should have a similar incident occur, they should call 911 right away.
