Valatie's Energy-Onyx building off the market again

Oct 18, 2020 5:30 am
Emilia Teasdale is reporting for The Columbia Paper the Valatie Village Board is trying to sell a former mill building on River Street that once housed the broadcast equipment company called Energy-Onyx. The village has received three bids to purchase the building since early summer, but village attorney Rob Fitzsimmons told the board in September, it must wait for the state courts to transfer the title from the Valatie Local Development Corporation. The issue was discussed in executive session during the board's October 13 meeting because of ongoing litigation. The development corporation owns the former trolley depot and the U.S. Hotel on Main Street; it also managed a state and federal Community Development Block Grant received for the former Energy-Onyx building. The development corporation has now started the process of transferring the titles of the properties. Once that process is completed it will then petition to dissolve the organization. Fitzsimmons has advised the board it must wait until the state resolves the title issues to sell the structure, so the Energy-Onyx building is again off the market. WGXC bought its transmitter from Energy-Onyx. Read the full story in The Columbia Paper.
