Federal cuts likely to impact local program

Max Oppen is reporting in The Daily Mail the Greene County Department of Human Services’ RSVP Volunteer Program is facing a substantial decrease in federal funding in 2015. A nearly 70 percent cut in federal funds to the Corporation for National Community Service of RSVP programs, would have a considerable impact at both the national and local levels. The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, or RSVP, is a national organization that provides volunteer services in local communities. RSVP is one of the largest volunteer networks in the nation for people 55 and over. In Greene Co., RSVP volunteers deliver meals for the homebound and provide transportation to medical appointments.
