Enrollment jumps on state’s health care website

Claire Hughes is reporting at Capitol Confidential the number of New Yorkers enrolling in health insurance plans through the state’s online market, New York State of Health, jumped 58 percent, to more than 76,000, in less than two weeks. Of that number, approximately 41,000 enrolled in private insurance plans and 35,000 in Medicaid, according to the state Health Department. More than 250,000 New Yorkers have now used to website to shop for plans since its Oct. 1 launch. The success of the market, or health exchange, has been closely watched as a measure of the state’s success at implementing requirements of the Affordable Care Act.
