Twin County awarded federal funds to expand services
Sep 07, 2018 7:15 am
Bethany Bump is reporting for the Times Union Twin County Recovery Services has been awarded federal grant funding to expand addiction prevention, treatment and recovery services. Twin County, which serves both Columbia and Greene counties, will receive more than $642,000. The award is among more than $25 million in Opioid State Targeted Response Grants being distributed throughout New York this year to combat the opioid epidemic. Funding was awarded to high-need areas, which were selected based on the number of overdose deaths and hospitalizations due to opioids, as well as the number of residents who seek treatment outside of the county. The grants are intended to increase access to treatment, address unmet need and reduce overdose deaths through initiatives such as mobile treatment, telepractice and peer support. Funds will also help expand medication-assisted treatment for individuals battling opioid addiction, and treatment for people transitioning from local jails, prisons and state parole violator facilities.
