Nov 01, 2019 1:30 pm
The Daily Freeman is reporting Northern Ulster County, and in particular Saugerties, is experiencing “an unprecedented number of overdoses” linked to fentanyl-laced heroin, the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office said October 31. There also were 12 overdoses last weekend in Hunter, Greene County, the DA's office said. Officials did not say if any of the overdoses were fatal. Law enforcement at the scenes of the Ulster County incidents reported that two different packages of heroin bearing distinctive stamps were tainted and contained fentanyl. The first had a red stamp showing a basketball player with the name "Lebron" underneath. The second had a blue stamp showing two handguns and the words “Young Guns.” Anyone with an addiction is urged to contact the Ulster County Mental Health/Substance Disorder Hotline at (800) 662-4357. Anyone with information concerning the presence of heroin in their community is asked to call (845) 340-3599. All calls will be kept confidential. Read the full story in the Daily Freeman.
