Oct 25, 2017 7:10 am

The Daily Freeman is reporting the house fire that killed a 69-year-old Catskill man Sun., Oct. 22, was intentionally set by the man himself. Fiori LaCorte “absolutely” intended to die in the blaze, Greene County Sheriff Gregory Seeley said Tuesday. LaCorte was pronounced dead at the scene after firefighters extinguished the fire that consumed the log home located on LaCorte Road Extension in Leeds. Seeley said fire investigators have yet to determine how the fire was set. The fire was called in about 3:15 a.m. Sunday, and members of the Leeds Hose Company found the house engulfed in flames when they arrived. Firefighters had some trouble getting water to the fire because a truck was blocking the road. One firefighter from Cairo suffered an injury while fighting the blaze. The injury was not life-threatening. Read the full story in the Daily Freeman.
