Trail plan proposed for New York

Joseph Spector reports in The Poughkeepsie Journal that Gov. Andrew Cuomo wants a $200 million, 750-mile trail to cross New York State. It would be the largest multi-use if funded, running from New York City to Albany to Buffalo. "It would be a finished pathway that travels through our parks, our valleys, along our waterways, through our beautiful tourist destinations all across the state," Cuomo said in a speech at SUNY Purchase in Westchester County Jan. 10. "You could run, you could bike, you could walk, you could do segments of it. You could make it an entire vacation." The Hudson River Valley Greenway is already 50 percent complete and the Erie Canalway is 80 percent complete, and this plan would link them into one large trail.
