Greene, Columbia counties receive funding for transportation projects

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo June 26, announced $57.7 million in state and federal funding for 126 rural public transportation projects statewide, including those in Greene, Columbia and Rensselaer counties. According to a statement released by the governor's office, the "initiative will support rural public transportation operations; help local communities procure new clean-fuel, ADA accessible buses and related equipment; enhance coordination between local transportation agencies..." and more. Greene County was awarded a total of $760,000, for operating assistance, the purchase of four buses to expand service and for projects that support mobility. Columbia and Rensselaer counties received $148,000 and $127,000, respectively, in operating assistance. "Transportation infrastructure is the lifeblood of our economy and the key to future growth," Governor Cuomo said. "This funding will bolster upstate mobility operations and help ensure that all New Yorkers, regardless of their location, will have a transportation infrastructure they can rely on."
