COVID-19-related school closings

School districts in Columbia and Greene counties have announced changes to their school calendars because of the outbreak of COVID-19 in the Hudson Valley, beginning March 16. The specifics of those changes vary from district to district. The superintendents in Columbia, Greene, and Rensselaer counties met Sat., Mar. 14, with the local health departments and Questar III BOCES.

Questar III BOCES | Mon., Mar. 16 will be a half-day for students. There are currently no plans to cancel classes thereafter Classes are canceled Wed., Mar. 18 through Fri., Mar. 27.

Columbia County
Chatham Central School District | Closed Mon., Mar. 16; plans for the week ahead will be updated Sunday at 4 p.m Classes are canceled Mon., Mar. 16 through Fri., Mar. 27.
Germantown Central School District | Closed Wednesday, March 18 until Friday, March 27.
Hudson City School District | Students and staff should plan to attend school Monday and Tuesday; the district will then be closed Wed., Mar. 18 thru Fri., Mar. 27.
Ichabod Crane Central School District | The schools be open Mon., Mar. 16. Classes are then canceled beginning Tue., Mar. 17 through Fri., Mar. 27.
New Lebanon Central School District | Classes are canceled beginning Wed., Mar. 18 through Fri., Mar. 27.
Taconic Hills Central School District | Student and staff will be in session Monday and Tuesday; classes are canceled Wed., Mar. 18 through Fri., Mar. 2027.

Greene County
Cairo-Durham Central School District | There are currently no announced changes to the school calendar; however, an update is expected Sun., Mar. 15 Mon., Mar. 16 will be a regular day of school; Tue., Mar. 17 will be a staff development day with no students present. All classes are canceled Wed., Mar. 18 through Fri., Mar. 27.
Catskill Central School District | Students will have a half-day of school, Mon., Mar. 16. Superintendent Ronel Cook will provide an update at, or before 3 p.m., Sun., Mar. 15 No classes for students Mon., Mar. 16; followed by a half-day for students on Tue.,Mar. 17. Classes are canceled from Wed., Mar. 18 through Fri., Mar. 27.
Coxsackie-Athens Central School District | Students will have classes Mon., Mar. 16 until noon and a full day of classes Tue., Mar. 17. All classes are then canceled Wed., Mar. 18 through Fri., Mar. 27.
Greenville Central School District | Students will have a half-day of classes Mon., Mar. 16; the district will be closed beginning Tue., Mar. 17 through Fri., Mar. 27
Hunter-Tannersville Central School District | According to a March 14 statement from Superintendent Susan Vickers posted to the HTC website: Schools [in New York} are choosing to close based upon recommendations from their departments of health. "In Greene County we have no such recommendation. To our west schools are closing for precautionary measures and to our east this is not happening to the same degree.... HTC will remain open as much as possible..." Vickers based her decision on recommendations from the CDC School will operate on a two-hour delay Mon., Mar. 16. Classes are canceled beginning Tue., Mar. 17 through Mon., Apr. 13.
Windham-Ashland-Jewett Central School District | District facilities and campus grounds are closed through Sun., Mar. 29.
