Taconic Hills to add School Security Officer

Adam Clayton is reporting in the Register Star at a meeting of the Taconic Hills Board of Education, Wed., Jan. 22, Superintendent Neil Howard reported he has been in contact with Columbia County Sheriff David Bartlett about having a School Resource Officer assigned to the district. Howard said Bartlett originally planned to budget for two officers, to split their time between four districts. Howard said, "I felt we could do better than that." Howard said he believes with enough advance planning the school district could pay half the cost for an officer dedicated full time to Taconic Hills. Concerns over student safety in the district have been heightened since a rumored threat of violence on Dec. 16. Read the full story in the Register Star.
