Melanie Lekocevic in The Daily Mail reports that the Greene County YMCA opened in Coxsackie Thu., Oct. 16, without hoopla or the pool that was part of the original plan. “Ten years ago we were looking at a 30,000-square-foot facility, which would include a pool, at a cost of $3.7 million,” board member Bruce Whiting said at the opening. “Now, ten years later, we built this facility (without a pool) for $3.5 million.” The facility includes a fitness room, a basketball court, spinning room for cycling classes, and a children’s room. There will be a larger opening from noon-4 p.m. Oct. 25 at the YMCA at 35 Route 81 in Coxsackie. See the full story in The Daily Mail.
