Crossgates Best Buy unexpectedly closes

Bethany Bump is reporting for the Times Union the Best Buy at Crossgates Mall in Guilderland has closed, but the company has not explained why. Shoppers reported the store was closed on August 27. A recorded message that plays when you call the store confirms the closure but says nothing about a reopening date. "Due to circumstances out of our control our store is currently closed," the message says. The retailers website says it will be shuttered through Sunday. The company's corporate office did not immediately respond when it was contacted, nor did a spokesperson for the mall. Update: Rick Karlin is reporting for the Times Union the company has confirmed the Crossgates Best Buy will be reopen on Monday morning. While Best Buy has not explained the abrupt closure, an Albany County official said there was a positive coronavirus case at the store. “...[C]ustomers can still pick up online orders at the door and we are of course ready to serve you on BestBuy.com or on the Best Buy app,” said a company spokesperson. The Crossgates Best Buy has its own entrance and exit to the outside parking lot. Crossgates was closed from March to mid-July due to the pandemic. Read more in the Times Union.
