Regional council awarded green goals dollars

Nathan Mayberg reports in the Register Star Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo's Cleaner, Greener Communities program will fund a $1 million sustainability study and comprehensive plan for eight counties in the capital region, including Columbia and Greene counties. The announcement was made Mon., June 25. The Cleaner, Greener program is a $100 million initiative intended to increase clean energy jobs, improve energy efficiency and reduce pollution. The recipient Capital Region Economic Development Council, which represents the eight counties in the Capital Region, chose the city of Albany to lead the project. Columbia County's representative to the council is Kenneth Flood, the county's planning and economic development commissioner. Warren Hart, director of planning and economic development for Greene County, is that county's representative. Read the full story in the Register Star.
