New Yorkers very present at political conventions
Jul 29, 2016 11:25 am
The conventions are over for both major political parties, and New York had a fairly large role, with two candidates calling the state home. At the Republican convention in Cleveland, former New York City mayor Rudolph Giuliani spoke, and the New York delegates' votes clinched the nomination for Donald Trump. In Philadelphia, the Democrats had two NYC mayors -- Michael Bloomberg and Bill DeBlasio -- and current governor Andrew Cuomo speaking from the podium. The Libertarian Party previously nominated Gary Johnson for president at their convention in Orlando, and the Green Party is expected to nominate Jill Stein at their convention in Houston, August 4-7.
