On "@Issue" at 10 a.m., Wed., July 18, Hudson Mayor William Hallenbeck, Jr. explained the Hudson Police Department's use of a SWAT team to evict the Furgary Boat Club from the Hudson waterfront Mon., July 16. Speaking with host Victor Mendolia (who is head of the city's Democrat party), Republican Hallenbeck explained the police had received reports of firearms, and had talked with people close to the group who were concerned about "suicide by cop." He also said that there are still discussions under way to resolve the situation so that at least some of the Furgary Boat Club buildings could remain in some public way. On July 16, the city evicted the group, who have no lease and have occupied the land for over a century. Click here to listen to full hour-long interview.
