Gas prices head higher

The Daily Freeman reports average retail gasoline prices in New York rose 8.1 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.60 per gallon Sunday, higher than the national average, which has increased 7.9 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.34, according to gasoline price website NewYorkStateGasPrices.com. The Daily Freeman website tracks individual stations at http://www.dailyfreeman.com/gasbuddy/, and says the cheapest gas now is in Palenville, where the Mobil at 3388 NY23A has regular gas for just $3.47 a gallon. $3.53 at the Mobil on Fairport Ave. in Greenport, and at the Slater's Smart Shop and Stewart's in Cairo is the next lowest gas price locally, according to The Daily Freeman's web app.
