Traffic doubles at Stewart Airport

The Mid-Hudson News Network reports that Stewart International Airport, near Newburgh, has more than doubled passengers using the airport in July and August. Norwegian Air’s European service gets the credit with new routes to Dublin and Shannon, Ireland; Belfast, Northern Ireland; Edinburgh, Scotland; and Bergen, Norway. Now the airline as U.S. Transportation Department permission to fly to England. “I think there is going to be good uplift to England and the UK from there, but we will see. They have a lot of good activity already there, flying out of there, but not to Stewart yet,” Stewart Business Development Director Michael Torelli told the Stewart Airport Commission on Sept. 26.
