Max Oppen is reporting in The Daily Mail Edward I. Kaplan has been appointed Greene County Attorney, effective Dec. 1. Kaplan will succeed Carol Stevens. Stevens, who held the position since 2001, will retire Nov. 30. Kaplan was chosen over seven other applicants for the position by a six-member committee headed by Legislator Linda Overbaugh of Catskill. Kaplan has been an attorney since 2002; he specialized in matrimonial, civil and real estate law. He has served as deputy county attorney for 11 months. County Administrator Shaun Groden said Kaplan's experience distinguished him from the other applicants. “At the end of the day it was his personal experience...That was important.
