Cuomo wants $40 million more for covid-19 preparedness
Feb 27, 2020 12:57 am
Nick Reisman reports at New York State of Politics that Gov. Andrew Cuomo wants $40 million in supplemental funding to be prepared for a possible outbreak of the covid-19 coronavirus. There have not been any confirmed cases of the virus in New York. But earlier in the week the Centers for Disease Control said an outbreak in the United States was "inevitable." On Feb. 26 Cuomo said it is "highly probable" there will be cases in New York. "Our operating paradigm is always hope for the best and prepare for the worst," he said. State officials have met with the Centers for Disease Control in Washington, and the state Department of Health is also meeting with local government officials across the state. Cuomo said he is not worried about the Federal response. "They were quite clear about their protocol going forward," Cuomo said of the CDC. "I have no question about what the CDC is doing," the governor said. Read more about this story at New York State of Politics.
