New Lebanon might simplify planning

Jan 20, 2018 12:10 am
Thaddeus Flint reports in the Eastwick Press that New Lebanon is considered hiring a "Zoning Rewrite Consultant" at its Jan. 9 meeting, to cut down legal costs for town planning. "So spend fifty [$50,000], and get it back in two years?” asked Councilperson Norman Rasmussen. “That’s my anticipation,” Colleen Teal, the supervisor of the Columbia County town, replied. The consultant would help the town simplify excessive red tape. The larger Town of Brunswick, in Rensselaer County, spent $100,000 recently on a similar consultant in order to cut regulation there. The proposal will be discussed at the Jan. 30 Quad-Board meeting. Read the story in the Eastwick Press.
