The Daily Freeman reports unemployment rates fell throughout the Mid-Hudson Valley and Catskills, according to figures from the state Department of Labor released April 19. Dutchess and Columbia counties March 2016 unemployment rates were 4.1 percent, down significantly from 2015 when the Dutchess County had a 4.7 percent unemployment rate, and Columbia had a 4.8 percent rate. Greene County's rate fell from 6.7 percent in March 2015 to 5.5 percent this year. Statewide, the unemployment rate was 5.2 percent, down from 5.7 percent this time last year.
