Great Barrington proposes regulations for marijuana sales
Jan 31, 2018 12:45 pm
Kristin Palpini reports in The Berkshire Eagle that the Great Barrington Planning Board last week unveiled its proposal for regulations for stores selling marijuana there ahead of July 1 legalization in Massachusetts. The draft version of the board's proposed marijuana establishment zoning regulations would regulate sales between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Other rules in the proposal include only allowing marijuana cultivation on parcels zoned for light industry and residential lots that are 5 acres or larger; stores only in area zoned for business; store owners would have to submit plans for signage and explain security measures for town approval, and the town would have to grant permission for any consumption on the premises. Planning board members expect to vote on the proposal at their Feb. 8 meeting. If approved, the measure would get a public hearing, and then a town board vote.
