Cuomo announces new round of funding for bridges, culverts

The Times Union is reporting Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced January 25 the availability of $250 million in funding for communities around New York looking to replace and repair local bridges and culverts. Priority will be given to bridges with the greatest needs, or that serve vital roles in the local community and its economy. Cuomo called the money an investment in the state'w competitiveness, and noted the projects will also reduce local vulnerability to natural disasters. A similar round of grants two years ago set aside $200 million. That funding paid for 125 bridge and culvert projects in 96 communities statewide. Read the full story in the Times Union.
