Gas prices drop locally, nationally

The Daily Freeman reports that gasoline price fell another 2.9 cents per gallon last week in New York, to average $2.34. In the Kingston-Ulster area, the newspaper surveyed most stations selling 87-octane unleaded for $2.17 per gallon on July 25, according to the gasoline price website GasBuddy.com. “I foresee that, excluding a major hurricane or other disruption, we are very likely to see many more states with average prices falling under $2 per gallon by Halloween,” said Patrick DeHaan, a senior petroleum analyst for GasBuddy.
