Mar 28, 2014 8:08 am
Joe Gentile is reporting in the Register Star the Board of Supervisors Pine Haven Subcommittee heard Thurs., Mar. 29, from representatives of the Centers for Specialty Care Group, a Bronx-based consortium of more than 20 medical facilities located statewide. The group denied it was interested in purchasing the facility, but they did caution the subcommittee to be wary of potential buyers and distributed a 14-page handout to the committee about the process. Regional Administrator Bruce Gendron warned of the challenges of maintaining a county-run facility like Pine Haven. The subcommittee also heard from Ghent resident Al Wassenhove, who is advocating the facility be transformed into a veterans' center for physical therapy and counseling services once a new nursing home is built. Columbia County taxpayers subsidized the Pine Haven operating budget by nearly $1.5 million in 2013. Read the full story in the Register Star.
