Union membership grows in New York

James T. Madore reports in Newsday that union membership in New York rose by 75,000 members in 2017, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. There are now two million union members in the state, up four percent. In 2016, union membership in New York dropped 96,000, but gained 58,000 in 2015, and dropped 6,000 in 2014. Union members made, on average, $11,000 more than non-union members, according to the report. Read the full story in Newsday.
