Shipp CD sails from Troy recording

[caption id="" align="alignleft" width="200" caption="Matthew Shipp"][/caption]Matthew Shipp, who may be the jazz world's best pianist, is releasing a new double CD, "Art of the Improviser," recorded in Troy April 1, 2010 at The Arts Center of the Capital Region in conjunction with WGXC collaborators The Sanctuary for Independent Media. The first CD of two was recorded there, with drummer Whit Dickey and bassist Michael Bisio, and includes Billy Strayhorn's "Take the A Train" and four Shipp originals. The second CD was recorded at (Le) Poisson Rouge in Manhattan. Tune in WGXC to hear tracks from this CD in heavy rotation.
