Kusminsky sworn in as Greene County Sheriff

Sarah Trafton is reporting for Columbia-Greene Media public officials in Greene County were sworn-in January 1, at the county courthouse in Catskill. Eight officials took the oath of office: Greene County Sheriff Peter Kusminsky, Undersheriff Adam Brainard, coroners Richard Vigilo and Paul Seney, county Clerk Marilyn Farrell, county Corrections Superintendent Michael Overbaugh, and deputy clerks Amy Katt and Lillian Beechert. Judge Terry Wilhelm administered the oaths. Kusminsky was elected in November, defeating opponent Diana Benoit, in the only contested countywide race. Kusminsky, who ran on the Republican and Conservative lines, succeeds Greg Seeley, who served as sheriff for 12 years before his retirement. Kusminsky has an extensive law enforcement background. He was named Greene County’s Law Man of the Year in 1998, and in 2008, was the State Police Troop F’s Investigator of the Year. Kusminsky said he was humbled by the support he has received.
