Audrey Matott reports in the Greenville Pioneer that the Westerlo Planning Board approved the latest solar farm proposal from Cypress Creek Renewables in May. Cypress Creek has several solar farm proposals in different towns locally. This one is called Costanza Solar LLC, a two-megawatt solar farm, at 198 Sunset Hill Road in southern Albany County. At a May 22 public hearing on the matter, one neighbor said that two potential buyers did not buy her property after learning that a solar farm could be constructed next door. The Planning Board insisted that Cypress Creek provide adequate fencing and screening vegetation both near the solar array and along the access road to the array. This is the fourth solar farm approved recently by the Westerlo Planning Board, and Cypress Creek is also currently seeking a hardship request in Greenville, to get around the moratorium on commercial solar there.
