Greenville to combine two town offices

Susan Campriello reports in The Daily Mail in an effort to economize, Greenville town officials have begun the process of combining the duties of town clerk and tax collector into one office. Both offices now carry a two-year term. A public hearing on the consolidation will be conducted at the end of August. The matter then moves on for voter approval with a referendum on the November ballot, according to Supervisor Paul Macko. If approved, the offices will be combined in Jan. 2014. In other action taken Mon., July 16, the Greenville Town Board approved a full smoking ban in George V. Vanderbilt Park. Read the full story in The Daily Mail.
