That melody that drifts over the breezy islands of the Pacific and Caribbean and roars in the swirling swollen ocean itself? - A grainy, warm, spirited Voodoo vibrato that pulses with soul and sass through decade after decade of music from the Americas and their surrounding ports of call. We might call it Global Americana. Come celebrate this wide net of human expression at THE DOWN COUNTY JUMP music festival on Sept 30 at the Race Brook Lodge. Noon-11pm. Nine bands. Eleven straight hours of spirited transformative performances from some of the most dedicated roots musicians anywhere. Hosted in the towering music barn at the bucolic mountainside retreat of the Race Brook Lodge in Sheffield, Massachusetts - ticket holders will receive a discount on rooms. Kids under 12 free - and a kids club performance space will feature Roger the Jester, a frog costume contest, a singalong and more. Delicious food, hiking, campfire jam sessions will be available on the sprawling grounds throughout the weekend.
