Evening of Balinese Gamelan (orchestra) music and dance featuring Bard's own Hudson Valley Gamelans Giri Mekar and Chandra Kanchana. Under the musical and artistic direction of I Nyoman Suadin, with special guest artists, the evening includes both the Bard student ensemble and the community ensemble performing tradtional and new works from the Gamelan Gong Kebyar repertoire. Opening with a traditional Balinese procession and blessing and closing the evening out with a Kecak or Balinese rhythmic vocal chorus. There will be a brief gender wayang interlude and a couple of works-in-progress featuring composers I Nyoman Suadin, Ibu Tzu Tzupahlah, and others. At Olin Hall on campus.
