In this two-part workshop, youth learn to recognize the role that media plays in shaping their lives, and gain an understanding of basic media literacy principles in order to interpret advertisements. Students script out messages that “talk back” to the ads, then use stop-motion animation to deconstruct and critique the ads. This “talk back” incorporates print, audio, and visual media formats.
